Tearing Down Guinan's Pub?

UPDATE: 1/29/2011 - Spoke to a couple of people directly involved in the renovations who say the pub structure will remain in place, though it will require some renovations, shoring up, etc. That's great news. Hope this plan remains in place.

Heard today that the owners of #7 Garrison's Landing may be planning to dismantle what for many was the heart of Guinan's - the green pub in back - when they renovate the building into office space.

Don't know if it's true, but if so, this breaks my heart. Surely there are alternatives that could respect the history of this institution, and the people who loved and cared for it, while still making needed structural changes?

Was it William Buckley who coined "unputdownable"? Just finished Chapel on my iphone, and it was great....unputdownable.

Thanks for having that scotch and asking for the time to do this project.

That little slice of heaven you describe reminds me why I live where I live.

I just finished reading "Little Chapel On The River", Loved every page! I found it while looking at the books in the Goodwill, and it called to me. The Guinan family reminds me of my own family and small town that I grew up in. Through your words, even though I live in Ohio, I felt that I was there with you in the Chapel. I am saddened by the death of Jim Guinan and John's cancer, but the lives they and their family(everyone from Guinan's) has touched will be cherished memories forever. Thank you for bringing me into the family(so to speak). I hope someday soon I will be able to come to Garrison's Landing and visit the hallowed ground of Guinan's; whether it's still standing or not. I will always know what once was there. God Bless you and My the road rise up to great you!
